Life

Unfortunately i learnt a lesson on life this weekend. It is a lesson that needed to be taught, but a lesson i wish didn't happen.
A dear friend was taken suddenly from us through no fault of his own and it just made me realize, life is genuinely too short. You never know what moment is going to be your last or theirs, so please please please don't sweat the small stuff.

A week or two ago, my husband had some friends over for drinks, my friend "Bubbles" was one of them. I had been at work for 9 hours and had work for 8 hours the following day, so i was a bit grumpy with hubby that i had to entertain people. At 11pm, most of the people left, besides Bubbles (he was always the last and sometimes you had to kick him out) so at 11pm, i went to bed, and not in the happiest mood. This was the last moment i ever got to share with him... EVER! Even though that is the last time we were together, i wont let it hold me down as we have so many other wonderful moments together.
He was always the last person to leave as he just loved to be around people, he cared about everyone and was one of the most pure souls i have ever met.

My lesson learnt, you never know when it will be someones last moment, so live that moment like it is there last... Who cares about the petty stuff. A great way i thought of it is in 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 or even 50 years what will you remember? Will you remember that you were tired for one day of work? No, or will you remember that great last moment you spent with someone, just you and them, doing what you do best. If you wont remember in years to come don't bother with it. Dishes, Housework and Chores are all mundane and insignificant in life's journey. They will always be there. Will you remember the Mess or the Party? The Dishes or the Dinner???

Stop sweating the small stuff, life is too short to worry about it. Go out, live you life like you want to. I was always i would love to do that, i wish i could do that. You have one life, don't spend it on the couch wishing it away. Go out and do it, as unfortunately i have realized, you never know when it will be your last. Never let it go to long between the people who make you happy... There is just not enough time in life to loose friends because you couldn't get together. When your time is up, i think your time is just up, unfortunately we don't have a clock on our wrist telling us when that time will run out, you have to live every moment as if it will run out tomorrow, you can't borrow time.

An Apple a Day

Last night at work i was halfway through eating my apple when a colleague walked past and we started talking about the facts we know on apples. I myself have a vast knowledge of useless information! If its not of any real benefit, I will never forget. Like the fact i learnt when i was about 11 that Vampire Bats suck blood from the big toe of a human (this has helped me in a quiz night, but thats about it!). Sorry, back to apples! But yes as we were talking i started to think about how amazing apples really are! As i passed on my knowledge about apples, i thought it only fair to spread the word.

I already knew a few facts about apples. For instance:
  • They are better at waking you up than a coffee.
  • They are not the best snack if you are hungry as they aid your digestion and make you even hungrier.
  • As of the previous point they are good for constipation (sorry, but it is true).
  • If you havent had time to brush your teeth, have an apple as they are really good for cleaning your teeth and fixing your bad breath problems.

Here is a fact i learnt last night (i was told more but i forgot them):
  • There is something in the skin of apples that helps you retain muscle.

These are some new facts i found this morning which have amazed me:
  • Drinking apple juice could keep Alzheimer's away and fight the effects of aging on the brain.
  • Apples could help reduce your risk of developing pancreatic cancer by up to 23 per cent.
  • Women who eat at least one apple a day are 28% less likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
  • The fibre in apples helps to lower cholesterol levels.
  • Apples help to detoxify your liver.
  • Flavanoids in apples may protect post-menopausal women from osteoporosis and may also increase bone density.
  • When children with asthma drank apple juice on a daily basis, they suffered from less wheezing.
  • Eating an apple before you work out may boost your exercise endurance.
  • Apples are also found to play a role in inhibiting ageing-related problems, preventing wrinkles and promoting hair growth

So, have you had your apple today???

2012

2012 is the year for me! So welcome to my life! I have always loved blogs, but never had the guts to start one... As 2012 is full of change i may as well keep going!

This blog is about me, my thoughts, my loves, my ambitions and my dreams. I love summer and sunshine and wish i could follow the sun around the world, how ever some of my many ambitions has me grounded in the one spot, not that i am complaining though!
So welcome to my world and i hope you enjoy xoxo
